We are pleased to present the first success story from the Media and Publications Department, CAFE. This initiative strives to communicate CAFEs success through story-telling and provides regional offices with the opportunity to raise awareness of its projects by putting a human face on our work. The Second Life for the Orphanage Laundry has the before and after format of story-telling and it illustrates how CAFE had an impact.
CAFE Youth Library Participates In the International Library Conference
Helen Walsh, the Librarian from Tashkent Youth Library made a speech at the Third International Conference for Library Workers. The Conference took place on Friday, November 19, at Tashkent International Westminster University.
Andijan Development Center: A Place for International Debates.
Iroda Ahmedova, an English teacher and the youngest member of ADC staff, won a couple of $250 grants for running a one-day debate between local students and students from Osh (Kyrgyzstan). "The People Speak" Debate Competition has provided funding for transport, lunch and awards expenses. The Debate was held on October 10, 2004 at the Andijan Development Center (CAF Regional Office).
ERROR MSGTrainings on Bringing up Children in Andijan Development Center
During this summer (from April to September 2004) Andijan Development Center was involved in a project of social welfare. CAF ADC women staff conducted trainings based on Recommendations for Bringing up a Child course-book. There was a total number of six, ten-week trainings held in different regions of Andijan with sixty seven people participating. Fifty four of them received special Tutors certificate and If You Really Love Your Child book as a gift from CAF organization.
Tashkent Development Center Launches a New Project
Strasbourg Hotel y vuelo baratos Tashkent Development Center started a new project called CAFE Seminars for English Teachers 2004-2005.First lectures were given on Monday, September 27 for English teachers of the University of World Languages. Frances Russek (Language Education Director) with Sarah Junek (English Teacher/Trainer) taught Uzbek teachers the Art of Listening and Fluency Practice in ELT (English Language Teaching)
Gary and Andrea Dyck together with Beth Potter (nee Miller) are opening a language center to help those who need encouragement in their language learning (LL).
