I don't even notice the pump now and my BSL's are the best they have been. I had a small Insurance Settlement and that is what enabled me to buy the pump but gee as you would know the costs of the infusion sets etc. are excessive. At first I was changing sets every 3 days but for the past 5 months have only changed infusion sets every week so the cost has gone down. I am quiet fit and healthy the only problem is the cost of infusion sets and syringes - I eat well but have to go without some of the food I would prefer because of the cost of these implements that are required to keep me fit. accommodation in HeraklionI would recommend the pump to anyone. Only go to my Dr. when needed and find the Minimed people helpful with the small troubles I have had with the pump. Since being on the pump my BSL's have been the best ever for the past 50 years (even though back then with the Benedicts solution for urine tests they weren't all that accurate) but have been employed by a bank for the last 20 years so am surviving. Blood sugars always up and down as I worked two jobs for 11 years, day and night to support my son. Now have a dog to support (Maltese terrier) instead of a son but would have given up I think if I had not managed to get the pump. I am now 54 and so far have not had too many problems I think (really are sure) that it is because I have been on the pump for the past 18 months as it gives your body a regular supply of Humalog (which only last for 2-3 hours) and with injections of only 3-4 a day and then say Protophane at night the body gets used to the fast acting insulin of a day and then overnight changing to a long acting insulin (as I was doing) the body does not really accept this change.
