 | | Blackfen Studios is co owned and operated by cousins Walken Falk and Quetzalcoatl Bradley. As only children, they grew up as if brothers. Taking on project after project it seemed the two were destined to work together from the beginning. From their early dreams of operating a fort building business at five years old to researching hydrogen engine development at thirteen, the two were always working on wild and creative business ideas to meet the needs of people and their environment.
While always close, Quetzalcoatl and Walken each followed drastically different directions as they grew older. At nine, Quetzalcoatl received his first computer, a Tandy lap top with 4k ram, and started teaching himself how to code in Basic. That was 15 years ago and Quetzalcoatl is now completing his master's thesis at the University of Victoria in British Columbia. He is renowned for his clean, elegant, and rapid coding ability. In addition to being skilled in a wide variety of languages and environments, he is also a capable of understanding the broader issues which separate a well thought out design from the brute force approaches which abound on the internet today.
While Quetzalcoatl was delving into the esoteric byways of logic, math, and software, Walken was honing his numerous artistic talents and his sense of harmony and order. Pursuing all available outlets for his creativity, he achieved a broad understanding and ability in both the theory and practice of music, crafts, and fine arts. Since 1994, Walken added digital tools to his pallet of skills, mastering the artistic aspects of the information age. Walken's keen eye, sensibilities, and technical knowledge allow him to produce works which are pleasing to the eye, intuitively sensible in arrangement, and carefully crafted to take full advantage of the strengths and weaknesses of digital media formats.
In 1998, Walken and Quetzalcoatl ended a period of individual consulting by banding together to form a web development and custom software firm with the goal of providing the highest quality service and products while keeping the price inexpensive. To achieve their goal they designed a business model for Blackfen Studios customized for the internet age to allow dramatically reduced development times while providing superior quality. This allows Blackfen Studios to provide internet presence or applications for your business, whether large or small, at a fraction of the time and cost usually required.
The title Blackfen Studios was chosen in memory of their grandfather, Michael Marvin Lee Falk, who was not only a master artist in over 15 different mediums, but also a police officer and chief for over 30 years. During his retirement he served as an accomplished teacher at the prestigious Lakeside College Preparatory School. While alive, Michael Falk frequently used the name Blackfen or Black Fen as titles for his business and projects. Blackfen Studios is dedicated to Mike Falk's honorable legacy of quality craftsmanship. | |
